Fashion Is How I Tell My Story.

It’s how I convey a strong sense of who I am. Fashion is my deepest form of self-expression—it is my escape route into another adventure, a world where spontaneity and fulfillment coexist. Through fashion, I embellish my thoughts and emotions, translating them into textures, colors, and silhouettes. It’s more than just clothing—it’s the language through which I speak to the world. Fashion is also my political strife. I use it to empower and inspire—not just myself, but others—to be bold and unapologetically themselves. Using fashion as a platform for political expression has enabled me to articulate my views on the injustices within the fashion industry, many of which are still rooted in convention, bias, and outdated conditioning. Fashion is power. And if you can use that power—even in small ways—to take a stand against racism, colorism, and sexism, then you are already transforming the system from with in. Fashion unlocks innovation, creativity, and an unapologetically rambunctious mindset. It grants us entry into a new realm of the world’s creative vision. It is quirky, weird, rebellious, and uniquely imaginative. Fashion can also be used to challenge those in power—like Willy Chavarria, who used his latest runway show to highlight the ICE epidemic and the crisis of mass deportation in the United States. Through his designs, he evoked empathy and awareness, proving that garments can carry political weight. Many still believe fashion is “just clothes and fabric,” but every thread, every stitch, every drape tells a story. Each piece of fabric becomes a symbol of resistance, resilience, and identity. Fashion is, and always has been, far more than material—it is political, personal, and powerful.
